Cookie Policy

What the banner is. The cookie banner on this site is a notice, not a switch. The cookies described below — including the analytics and advertising ones — are set when you use the site, and dismissing the banner only records that you have seen it. To refuse them, use the controls in section 5: your browser, and each provider’s own opt-out.

1. What Cookies Are

A cookie is a small text file a site stores in your browser so it can recognise that browser on a later request. This policy uses "cookies" as shorthand for cookies and the technologies that behave like them — browser local storage, session storage, pixels and tracking tags — because they raise the same questions and we treat them the same way.

Cookies set by this site are first-party. Cookies set by a service we embed — an analytics or advertising provider — are third-party, and that provider is also a controller of the data it collects under its own policy.

2. Strictly Necessary Cookies

These are required for the site to work. Without them you could not sign in, stay signed in, or be served the site securely. We do not use them to profile you or to advertise to you.

• Authentication and session — set by Clerk, our identity provider, to establish and maintain your signed-in session and to protect against session hijacking and cross-site request forgery.
• Preferences — your theme (light/dark) and interface choices, so the site does not reset them on every visit.
• Notice record — the omni_cookie_consent cookie, which records that you dismissed the cookie notice (and nothing else) for up to 12 months, so it is not shown again on every page. Its name is historical; it stores no preference and controls nothing.
• Security and delivery — load balancing, rate limiting and abuse prevention performed by our infrastructure and CDN.

3. Analytics Cookies

These tell us how the site is used in aggregate — which pages are visited, where a flow is abandoned, what breaks — so we can fix and improve it. They are set when you use the site; section 5 explains how to refuse them.

• Google Analytics, delivered through Google Tag Manager — page views, sessions and traffic sources. Google Tag Manager itself is the container that loads our measurement tags; it is requested when the page loads.
• Microsoft Clarity — aggregated usage and interaction analytics used to find usability problems.

4. Advertising Cookies

These measure the performance of our advertising and allow the platforms below to attribute a signup or purchase to an ad you saw. They are set when you use the site; section 5 explains how to refuse them, both here and at the platform.

• Meta Pixel — conversion measurement and audiences for Facebook and Instagram advertising.
• TikTok Pixel — conversion measurement for TikTok advertising.
• LinkedIn Insight Tag — conversion measurement for LinkedIn advertising.

Each of these providers processes the data it receives under its own privacy policy, as an independent or joint controller depending on your jurisdiction.

5. How to Refuse or Remove These Cookies

The banner shown on your first visit is a notice. It tells you that this site sets the cookies described above and links you to this page; dismissing it records only that you have seen it, for up to 12 months. It does not switch anything on or off, and there is nothing to change in it later.

Your browser

This is the direct control, and it overrides us. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies for a single site or for all sites, block third-party cookies generally, and offers a private browsing mode that discards them at the end of the session. Blocking or clearing cookies for this site removes the analytics and advertising cookies in sections 3 and 4. Blocking the strictly necessary cookies in section 2 will also prevent you from signing in and will break parts of the site.

Many browsers and mobile operating systems additionally send a global privacy signal — Global Privacy Control, or an app-tracking permission — and the providers below honour those to the extent their own policies and your jurisdiction require.

The providers’ own opt-outs

Each analytics and advertising provider named above offers a control that applies wherever you meet it, not only on this site:

• Google — turn off personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, or block Google Analytics entirely with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
• Meta — control ad personalisation for Facebook and Instagram in Meta Ad Preferences.
• TikTok and LinkedIn — both offer ad-personalisation and off-platform-activity settings in the privacy section of your account with them. LinkedIn’s ad controls also apply to visitors without an account.
• Microsoft Clarity — covered by the browser controls above, and by Microsoft’s own privacy settings.
• Industry-wide opt-outs — the DAA page at aboutads.info and the NAI opt-out page switch off many advertising networks at once.

Your rights over the data

Separately from blocking a cookie, you can ask us to delete or disclose the personal data we hold, or to stop selling or sharing it where that right applies to you. Our Privacy Policy sets out those rights and how to exercise them, and the addresses in section 7 reach us directly.

Refusing analytics and advertising cookies does not reduce your access to the Services, and it does not stop the essential cookies in section 2 — those are what make an account work at all.

6. Changes to This Policy

If we add a cookie category or a new provider, we update this page and, where the change requires it, show the notice again. The effective date at the top always reflects the current version.
